![]() It is clear from the start that, if you are looking for a game that holds your hand, you may not enjoy yourself very much. The game gives you no information at all and it is totally up to you to start discovering and interpreting everything you encounter along the way. You are very literally left to your own fate as you wake up and discover the island. Your protagonist this time is Kara, the only survivor of a shipwreck, who wakes up on the shores of a mysterious island with just a small knife in her knapsack. The question is whether these type of games will remain varied and interesting enough, or if they will become thirteen-a-dozen and oversaturate the genre.Įmpty handed with very little sense of direction ![]() And while all of these games have influences of their own, they all seem to try to fill some gap between the type of exploration that is commonly found in The Legend of Zelda versus the true survival genre where you’re left on your own and are basically required to create a fishing rod out of a stick and some bubble gum wrapper if you don’t want to remain stuck on the island. The last year I’ve reviewed survival games such as Stranded Sails and Stranded Deep that basically started off with the same premise.įor some reason this genre has become more popular amongst developers and although I’m not sure which game eventually started it, there is a noticeable trend. If this sounds familiar to you, you’re not the only one. Just like many other open world survival games of this genre, you wake up on a beach and are left with noting more than your wits and some basic materials to start off your journey.
